About Us

Clay Babies is a husband-wife song-writing duo. Reared in the red-clay foothills of Georgia (Tim) and South Carolina (Lillie), we followed our hearts to the mountains of Western North Carolina where folk music and beautiful nature abounds. We loved living in the Appalachian mountains, a mecca for musicians of old-time, folk, and Celtic music. After years of learning mountain music, we finally found each other. Ideally matched in music and life, we now happily hang our instruments (and hats) in north Georgia, a land near to many ancestors in both our families.

Tim has played in various types of bands over the past few decades, including his 1990’s stint as lead singer in a Macon, GA rock band. Lillie got her start playing music for folk dances (contra, square, waltz) in Western NC around 2007. Together, they enjoy creating and playing whatever music moves them.
